I have had a customer in Aveley who has had a composite door fitted. On 2 occasions she has left the key on the inside which prevents the key on the outside working this has cost her £50 each time. I advised her to have a key and turn cylinder fitted this has a knob on the inside so she cannot leave the key inside all so if there is a fire she is not searching for keys in a smoke filled house and if she has a fall a relative with a key will still be able to get in.

This takes around 10 minutes to change and she has the peace of mind of knowing she will not be locked out again

IMG_20151228_093810Today I have had a customers who requires extra security on his front door as he is applying for a shot gun licence. I have fitted an ERA 5 lever British standard insurance approved lock. I also checked the back door and windows to make sure they are all up to standard.

digital lock

IMG_20151220_102556Last week I was called out to a car dealer in Dagenham who was unable to open the key cabinet .I arrived on site tried the code a few times and was informed the override key was missing. I gained entry to the key cabinet removed the latch so the door would not latch again. I returned 2 days later with a new digital lock, set the code as required. The customer was pleased it was completed by Xmas.

obsolete door mechanisms

IMG_20151219_140008Had a customer in Aveley with a faulty door mechanism. This was no longer available. I was offered an alternative which fitted in place of the original with no cutting holes and it lined up with old keeps on the frame so no holes on show there. With new handles and a new cylinder the door latched and locked like new with no unsightly holes

New door problems

IMG_20150726_180155Today I was called to a door that was only a year old was not double locking. I checked to make sure nothing was getting in the way. I then removed 1 keep at a time to resolve the problem 1 minute it was OK then it play up again. I then checked the hinges to find that the screws on the lower hinge had worked loose allowing the door to move to a different position each time it was closed. I tightened them up in the correct position and all was good.

Metal Door Security Door in Gidea park

IMG_20150626_152016IMG_20150626_152016Had a customer today in Gidea Park need a lock change and also required an extra lock fitted as the door was not secure with just the one.I had to cut the for end of the door to fit the new lock case fitted a Yale superior euro cylinder with anti bump,anti snap,anti drill anti pick with ten year guarantee.

Places some satin escutcheons over the cylinders then on to cut the hole to accept the bolt.after that the customer asked me to have look to see why the door was rubbing when closing.checked it find the foot plate needed screwing down.enjoyed this job as it was something to get my teeth in to and the customer was very happy with the work.

Locked Out

A customer couldn’t get in her flat in South Ockendon as the snib had dropped down.she rang another locksmith who said he would have to drill the cylinder then smash the lock off.Then he would have to fit a new night latch for £120.With the correct tool I lifted up the snub turned the key she was in all for £50 no new lock required

Multipoint Lock

IMG_20150519_155148Called out today by a customers in grays with a handle rotating round and round without opening the door.removed the mechanism to find apart inside broken up.I carry the part on the van as this is common on that mechanism. Put it all back together tested it works fine.Refit mechanism handles and cylinder all working fine and half the price of a new mechanism
